Acer palmatum 'Twombly's Red Sentinel'

A fast-growing Japanese Maple with a narrow form. 'Twombly's Red Sentinel' is one of the most popular varieties in recent decades. Originated as a broom mutation on a 'Bloodgood' Japanese Maple. This discovery was made by Ken Twombly of Connecticut. The growth habit is tall and narrow, making it a very useful tree in the landscape. The spring leaves are bright red. The older leaves turn to light red in summer but flushes of new bright growth are common during mid-season. The fall color is glowing bright red.
