Acer circinatum x palmatum 'Morton'

An upright-growing hybrid Japanese maple resulting from a cross between Acer circinatum and Acer palmatum. This distinctive selection combines the beautiful coloration typical of vine maples with the improved hardiness and greater sun tolerance of palmatum, even in warmer southern climates. The large green leaves are accented with shades of orange and red throughout the growing season before turning brilliant red in fall. This cultivar was discovered at the Morton Arboretum in Illinois.
