Acer palmatum 'Mayday'
LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER (SPRING 2024)
A dwarf Japanese Maple with a compact habit. One of the most desired of all Japanese Maples. Rare in the trade because of difficulty in propagation. Discovered as a seedling of 'Mikawa yatusubusa' by Talon Buchholz. Like the other Mikawa types, it displays leaves that layer on top of each other like shingles on a roof. The spring color is breathtaking soft peach-yellow with rose highlights changing to blonde yellow in late spring. The color eventually fades to bright green for the summer. The fall color is bright orange-yellow. The combination of the spring color display, layered leaves, and beautiful form make this one of the best Japanese Maples to ever be discovered! No collection is complete without a 'Mayday'.
