Acer palmatum 'Kaleidoscope'

An upright growing Japanese Maple. 'Kaleidoscope' is a new variety that was found as a variegated sport on 'Seigen'. The spring leaves are bright red similar to 'Shin deshojo'. By late spring, the color fades to green and this is when the red and pink variegation begins to appear. The amount of variegation will differ from leaf to leaf. The fall color is a mix of orange, yellow, and red. Discovered and introduced by Robert Jamgochian at Mendocino Maples.
