Acer shirasawanum 'Junihitoye'

A slow-growing, upright Japanese Maple. The best feature of this variety is the leaves, which can have up to 12 lobes, making each leaf distinctly round. The spring and summer color is green. The fall colors are fantastic shades of red, orange, and yellow. The name refers to the 12 layers of the kimono a Japanese princess wears upon marriage. This variety is listed in Japanese literature as early as the 1800's.
