An upright-growing Japanese Maple. This variety was selected because of its rough bark. It is perhaps the best of all the pine bark types because the bark appears at a very young age. I have seen the corky bark appear on trees that are only 2 years old! The early spring leaves are green with a soft red border changing to green for summer. The fall color is orange-red. Great for bonsai work. Introduced by Scott Hubble of Metro Maples in Texas.
