A vigorous dwarf Shantung maple prized for its tiny leaves and highly unusual growth habit. The foliage emerges green with red highlights in spring and summer before turning bright yellow in fall. One of the most distinctive characteristics of this variety is its branching structure. New shoots grow in multiple directions with a semi-weeping habit, gradually forming a dense shrub-like tree with an interesting shape. Also, a wonderful candidate for bonsai work because of its small leaves. This selection thrives in extreme sun and heat. Discovered by Keith Johanson in Dallas, Texas.Â
