Acer palmatum 'Ruth's Red'

An upright growing Japanese Maple. With so many 'Bloodgood' type Japanese Maples in the trade, it can be difficult to choose. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to see or grow most of them. If I had to choose one, it would be 'Ruth's Red'! In my opinion, it's the best. The spring color is bright red with an orange cast. The color darkens into early summer. In late summer when other red leaf varieties have faded, 'Ruth's Red' still looks fantastic! Discovered by Greg Gulden in Pennsylvania.
