Acer shirasawanum 'Kawaii'
A dwarf, lace-leaf Japanese Maple with semi-weeping branches. 'Kawaii' is one of the most sought-after varieties by maple enthusiasts and collectors. The spring color is a soft orange to plum-red. But the real color display starts in summer when bright green comes into the base of the leaf, creating a beautiful contrast. One of the few varieties that looks its best in summer. This variety is very slow-growing and can be difficult to grow in the landscape, especially in colder zones. It is better suited for container gardening. The name means "cute".
