Acer palmatum 'Beni ukigumo'

A slow growing, upright Japanese Maple. One of the most talked-about varieties in recent years but still very rare in the trade. The spring color is red with blotches of pink and white. Imagine the famous 'Ukigumo' variegation but on a red canvas instead of green. As the spring leaves get older in summer, they will lose most of the variegation. But we have seen that this variety has a tendency to push new growth in midsummer, which is even more colorful than the spring leaves. The roots are somewhat slow growing so overwatering can be detrimental, especially during its early years of development.
